   RM135,000 Raised at PIKOM Golf Tourney

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RM135,000 RAISED AT PIKOM GOLF TOURNEY
Three charities benefit in annual charity tournament;
players ranked in lucky positions also win in a twist to traditional winners’ placings

Kuala Lumpur, Monday (June 28, 2010) – Three charities received a mid-year gift when they benefited from handicaps of a different kind at a recent charity golf tournament, the CXO Charity 2010, organized by PIKOM and which was held at a leading golf club in the Klang Valley.

Pronounced a resounding success by the National ICT Association of Malaysia, PIKOM raised a total of RM135,000 and the proceeds went to The Malaysian Federation of The Deaf, Persatuan Kebajikan Untuk Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Perting in Bentong (PKKI) and the Rural Hostel SK Malangkap in Kota Marudu. The three beneficiaries each received an equal RM45,000.

Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), who was the invited VIP Guest, was present to witness the presentation of the mock cheques to The Malaysian Federation of The Deaf and PKKI. He received the mock cheque on behalf of the Rural Hostel SK Malangkap.

PIKOM President Shaifubahrim Saleh and participants alike applauded the CXO Charity 2010 Organising Chair for the tournament, KC Goh for the overall success of the event. Shaifu said, “Goh was instrumental in making this third charity golf event the most successful todate for our organization since 2008 when it was first initiated.

“The success of the day was also largely attributable to the quality of play, sponsors’ involvement, the prizes at stake and donations pledged in the name of the three charity  beneficiaries. My thanks must go to the sponsors who collectively rallied around the event and made it all possible.”

All in all, a record 124 players signed up to challenge amongst themselves on the green. Avid participants included Datuk Badlisham Ghazali CEO of MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation); Dato' Mohd Salleh Bin Haji Harun, Vice Chairman of Maybank; Tun Mohd Haniff Omar, the Deputy Chairman of Resorts World; Datuk Kamal Khalid, COO of Media Prima; Dato' Sri Johann Young, CEO of Nexbis Sdn Bhd; and Andy Tan, CIO with EPF.

Shaifu added, “The idea of enjoying yourself in your favourite past-time and doing it all for a worthwhile cause at the same time resonates well with our players.”

This year, Mohammad Ibrahim Hussain, Managing Director of Sigma Rectrix Systems (M) Sdn Bhd emerged champion whilst first runner-up position went to WK Wong, Director of Unique Central. Nadi-Ayu Technology Sdn Bhd’s General Manager, Mohamed Khamis won the third place. The fourth and fifth placing went to Low Chee Haur, CEO of Index Diversified Sdn Bhd and Alex Loh, Senior Vice President of Datacraft respectively.

In a twist to traditional winners’ placings, players at the CXO Charity 2010 ranked in lucky positions were also given prizes in addition to the top five winners. Those who achieved the “first” in numerical order… hence, the 11th, the 21st, the 31st, the 41st, 61st and 71st were also designated “Lucky Position Winners”.
